Our Spring trip to India was incredible!

G*d was so gracious to us at every turn.  He walked with us through every single up and down.  Our flights were all on time and uneventful {for the most part} – and for the 7 of us that was amazing!  We ministered at five different villages encouraging other bel*evers, friends and family members.  Kimberly’s mom joined us for the last 3 weeks of the trip, and it was an honor to serve alongside her again. Pushpyar and I feel very strongly about involving our children in the ministry as active partners not just observers.  So at every meeting we had them share a t*stimony of something that G*d had done in their lives.  We were equally blown away and blessed by what they each shared and how timely it was for individuals in each setting.  Many times speaking into situations that they had no idea about but G*d certainly did. We had many rich experiences with our family in Ranchi and the Lord knit our hearts together even more so than before.  It had been over 3 years since we had been with any of Pushpyar’s family so it was a delightful & special blessing to be able to spend time with them.

J School Progress

We are SO happy to announce that we have blueprints from an architect willing to work with us on the plans for the J school!  We have begun work already on the student bathrooms.  This is a GREAT first step to making our campus more “permanent” (even though we have been there for 20+ years!).  Our students have not had any bathrooms (besides the jungle) so we are thrilled to give them restrooms!  Bathrooms will help provide a clean, safe environment for the entire school.  We have also begun building a kitchen, guard house & supply rooms.  We need about $6,000 to cover the costs of these rooms.  Please join us by donating or join a work crew team!

The children at the Jonha school participated in their annual Sports Day in January.  On this day the children prepare a special parade and presentation for special guests.  Then the students participate in all sorts of different competitions.  The children anticipate and greatly enjoy this yearly tradition.

One Student’s Story…Peter*

This year Pushpyar created some special games for our student that has battled polio his entire life.  The simple joys of being included and being able to take part in the games were overwhelming for this young man.  His joy led to other teachers’ acknowledging and realizing that they too can help adapt some of their classroom activities for those students with special needs.  Peter is pictured with some of his prizes.

Umbrella Project Success! In July, Pushpyar helped facilitate providing umbrellas to our school kids in 3 different villages.

As we move into the winter season in India, its even more important to keep our children healthy!

We are incredibly grateful for the 10,000 meal packs that we received from new partners.  This special shipment is helping feed our school kids for several months!

We did it!  With your help we gave over 400 students school supplies!  Each student in one of our rural schools received a school pack, which contained notebooks, pencils & pens, book covers, supplies that are necessary for a successful school year!

The new term began at the beginning of April.  Helping supply a child in need with necessary school supplies is a wonderful way to show the tangible love of J*sus to them. And as you can see from their smiles they are quite blessed!

During the monsoon season in the jungles of India, it rains all day, every day. Many children still walk to school, which can be a

30 minute to 2-hour trek, without any protection from the torrential rains. Needless to say, when they get to school they are soaked and chilled, without any means to dry their clothes, many remain that way for the entire day.  You will help keep a child (or two!) dry and protected as they come and go to school.  Pushpyar will be distributing these umbrellas during his trip to India in the month of July (2014).  Thank you for making a difference in the life of a child!

We are very excited that we have been able to partner with the Dress-A-Girl Around the World organization.  Dress-A-Girl provides simple pillowcase dresses for girls who might not otherwise own a dress of their own.  We are blessed to receive 100 dresses from the NY chapter located right here in Rochester, NY.  But we NEED your HELP!  Here’s how we need you to get involved…in order for these dresses to be culturally acceptable we would like to purchase a simple shirt for each girl to wear with her new dress.  We will purchase these shirts in India.  Also due to the upcoming winter months, the dress/shirt combo will help keep these precious girls warm.  Thank you for giving so we can get these dresses on 100 precious girls.

The monsoon season is coming to a close in the jungles of India, and with it means many more mosquitoes. Mosquitoes carry and transmit a nasty disease called malaria, which is treatable when cared for right away. Without the accessibility of doctors, many children die needlessly because of malaria. But we can help change that! Mosquito nets are one of the most effective ways of preventing malaria.

We continue to anticipate expanding our feeding program.  We are currently working with 2 village schools, feeding 400+ children, four times a week.          Food prices continue rise which +-adds to the difficulty of maintaining the program.  Our desire is to increase feeding the children to 6 times a week and add more proteins and fruits to their diet.
